Fairtex BGV9 gloves – Review
The Fairtex BGV9 is Fairtex’s Mexican style boxing glove rather than the short wrist cuffed BGV1 Muay Thai style glove alot of people think of when they hear the name Fairtex but we really like these down here at Fight Store Newcastle.
Construction- Premium cowhide leather handmade in Thailand. They use a two layered high impact foam core padding which means the weight of the glove is evenly distributed from the wrist to the head of the glove. Also the wrist strap starts in the middle of the glove which in my ipinion is trying to be innovative but in turn does not really make a difference.
Feel & Fit- When you first put these on the leather feels very stiff the leather takes awhile to break in but this is common across all of Fairtex’s gloves even there MMA gloves are substantially stiffer than gloves from other brands this is not a good or a bad thing it just goes down to preference.I really like the locked thumb on these gloves makes it alot easier to make a solid fist which i have talked about before being a big factor for me when choosing a glove.
Price and Value for Money – The Fairtex BGV9 are £100 and in my opinion that is perfectly reasonable for a pro level glove like this.in that £100-£200 price range competing with the Revgear S4 any of Ringside’s top range & the Rival RS1 with the Fairtex being at the bottom of this price range these are excellent value for money.
Would Suit – These would suit anyone who is Boxing or Muay Thai,K1 with more of a punching style these are a punchers glove hands down.
Conclusion- The Fairtex BGV9 is an excellent pro level glove and if you are looking to invest in a pro level glove that is going to last you a couple of years but you dont want to cough up the kind of money that the likes of Cleto Reyes,Rival & Winning are asking for then this is an excellent choice.
