Hometown Fighter Dougie Curran Wins The Belt At Big North East Show
MMA Newcastle caught up with Dougie Curran after his big win on the weekend at the big Black and White Fight Night, that was brought to the O2 Academy by Wraith Promotions.
“The Bullet” picked up the International Masters Bronze Super Featherweight Title after beating Pavel Senkovs in every one of the 8 rounds.
“He made me work for the win; he was a tough, tough guy. It was amazing to fight in front of the hometown, I was really happy with the support and it was great to win the belt in Newcastle.”
We asked Dougie when he was looking to get back in the ring:
“I’m taking a day or two off to relax but I’m heading straight back to the gym, I’m looking forward to fighting again and want to get back in there as soon as possible, my weights good and I didn’t take any damage in the fight, so I’ll discuss it with my promoter and hopefully get back in the ring soon.”
At only 24 and with plenty of experience under his belt already Curran has a promising future ahead of him.
“I’d like to say a big thanks to my coach Matt Jobes who’s made a massive impact on my preparation for the fight and Johnson’s Boxing where I’m training, and got me ready for this fight and to my sponsors Fightstoremma, Franklin Print and Ideala.”
